Hound Show

Dear MDBA Members 

Once again we have been invited to take over the Great Yorkshire Show Hound Ring on Friday 11th July 2025 I hope as many of you as possible can make the trip so that we can comprehensively fly the flag for our sport.

The entry form is attached and I have promised the show that we will have all the entries in by the 15th of May. This is so the GYS can print our catalogue free of charge for us.. Don’t worry that this is quite early as you can make substitutions on the day as long as its before 10am.

Key points about the show are as follows

We want as many packs to take part as possible the new members and probationary packs are welcome to show. You are allowed to show hounds you have not bred yourself i.e. draft hounds but you must prefix the entry with the name of the Hunt that bred the hound regardless of the age that you acquired it. Please do come and join in it would be great to have all the packs showing.

Please note 2 important rules;

1. Due to the number of bloodhounds shown and representations that members wish to have time to show their hounds properly, bloodhound entries are to be limited as follows; In bloodhound single hound classes up to 3 hounds may be entered but only 2 of those hounds may be shown on the day. In bloodhound couple classes up to 2 couple of hounds may be entered but only 1 couple of hounds may be shown on the day.

2. Any entered draft hound must have hunted at least 1 season with the showing pack.

Each hunt has 3 tickets anybody wishing to travel with or help with your hounds in excess of this number must buy their own tickets on line before the show all entry is by advanced ticket.

You can stay overnight on the Thursday adjacent to the showground and hounds can stay in kennels in the hound enclosure but you must contact me and let me know your details in advance. Please if you stay overnight do not practice with your hounds in the ring, it is not fair on others and my helpers don’t want to be clearing up the evidence.

If you don’t know the exact breeding of your hound don’t let that stop you bringing it just put down what you do know.

The Association is paying your entry fee again this year.
